We have been fortunate enough to have our debut single ‘Hoguera Noche’ reviewed by the fantastic Buster Fayte of Rockabilly Romp. Big thanks goes to Buster Fayte and you can read his kind words on our little tune below. How About A Little Punkabilly To Start Your Week Well, it seems I always get myself into a bit of trouble when I veer too far off of the rockabilly genre, but why not live dangerously? So here’s fair warning: this post is not about traditional rockabilly! The Curse of Mary Sue, a band out of Sydney, Australia, dropped me a line today. (I really enjoy hearing from you bands and musicians!) The band wanted to tell us about their new single, “Hoguera Noche.” And they weren’t trying to pull anything over on me either. They told me right out that they’re not a rockabilly band. But, they said, rockabilly is one of their biggest influences. They also say they wanted “to move away from the plastic pseudo-perfection of modern pop-rock” and that’s a sentiment you and I can probably agree on even if we’re not totally into their style of music. They deserve a listen if just for that statement! I’m always interested to hear what has grown, and what continues to grow, out of rockabilly. “Hoguera Noche” is an aggressive rock tune. As I said, it’s certainly not rockabilly and it’s not psychobilly–punkabilly describes it pretty well. It’s not really the kind of music I go seeking out, but again, I’m always interested and willing to give a listen. I think it’s a pretty cool single, and if you’re up for a bit of a break from rockabilly, I think you’ll enjoy it. You can check it out on The Curse Of Mary Sue Reverb Nation page and if you like what you hear, they’re offering it as a free download. So what do you have to lose? Go give it a listen! Thanks, Elanor, for getting in touch! Its on like donkey kong! “A phrase to denote that it’s time to throw down or compete at a high level; something is about to go down. The use of the comical video game character Donkey Kong provides comic relief but the phrase itself has greater or more significance than simply its on.” As we head into the studio we will be bringing our A game and can’t wait to show you all our new songs! We’ve been lucky enough to land a killer setup in the order of the amazing ‘Love Hz Studios‘ with producer extraordinaire Michael Carpenter. The practice and planning for this EP has been tenfold & a never ending journey but never the less it will be all worth it with a final product that will expand upon our debut single “Hoguera Noche’, and cement our sound and style for all our fans to enjoy. So stay tuned for more deets, so...

So we were recently contacted to partake in a compilation CD called “Less Talk More Punk” put out by PR group “Off the Record”, so there was no way we were letting this slide. The CD includes all up and coming Punk bands from around Australia and will give you an indication that fast and heavy certainly ain’t dead! Here’s what’s in this issue: It’s all happening! With The Amity Affliction releasing Chasing Ghosts to much acclaim (including taking out the #1 slot in the ARIA charts!), it’s now time for Byron Bay’s own Parkway Drive to try their hand at the big leagues with their fourth full-length Atlasslated for release October 26th. With the year coming to a close, this issue also boasts our Annual Reader’s Poll where you’re free to have your say on who killed it this (and who probably ought to be killed). Just for speaking your mind, we’ve got a KILLER prize up for grabs thanks to the kind folk at UNFD. If you’re the lucky winner, you’ll get a meet and greet with the Australian artist of your choice from the UNFD label! Amity Affliction? In Hearts Wake? Buried In Verona? Oh yes, you could be hangin’ with the best of them, so be sure to get your answers in! Also this issue, climb aboard the freebie train with our copy of Less Talk, More Punk Vol 2! 20 tracks deep, this baby is bursting at the seams with Avastera, Cupidfalls, Them Sharks!, Chainsaw Hookers and tonnes more so you can rock out while you read. Lining the pages of BLUNT this month we’ve got: – Parkway Drive: Byron’s famous sons add some weird shit to their metalcore and get serious about the environment. – Muse: Unintentionally penning an Olympic theme song is all in a day’s work for these Brits. – All Time Low: The pop-punk kings beg for forgiveness for all the sins they committed on their last album. – Title Fight find their green thumb and devastate an entire scene with their new album. – Between The Buried And Me: Prog metal never sounded so god damn… proggy. Prepare thy mind. – Tame Impala: Perth sons want you to take an acid trip with your mum. – Grinspoon: Lismore’s finest pulled a rabbit out of their hat on their latest album, but don’t dare bring up the past. Plus The...
